Good Luck Obama!

I firstly want to congratulate Barack Obama to becoming the 44th president of USA.
A truly historical event!

I think most of you were as happy and excited as I was to read about Obamas plan for research and innovation where he wants to put more effort on reducing the time needed to move scientific discoveries from the laboratory to the clinic and the community, that is improve the conditions for translational research!

This is just what we are trying to convey to our politicians – invest in translational research and new therapies will emerge which in turn will lead to an improved healthcare!

Also Obama will reverse the Bush administration’s ban on stem cell research. This opens up enormous possibilities for developing treatments to a number of human diseases and conditions, such as cancer, Parkinson’s and spinal cord and muscle injuries.

I want to wish Obama and his administration all the best of luck with his endeavours and look forward to this change in American research policy!
